The Oregon Trail - Visual Development

During my last weeks at Gameloft in 2019 I was offered to work on developing the style of The Oregon Trail remake. The project manager and creative director encouraged me to pitch it in the pixel art style that I was using for fun on side projects. I of course jumped on it and I had a blast. Here are some pieces that I did to get the mood of the west and test out the legibilty of small characters with few pixels and some effects we could add in Unity (bloom and atmosphere) to get it to look cool, still manage to tell a story even with a strong camera constraint.
